On the first day of the Cornhusker Girls’ State the city of Hayes was formed. This Girls State city was located on floor two of Sandoz Hall and had a population of 38 very capable and intelligent women and counselors Alyssa Moser and Genesis Saul-Hooper. These girls turned out to have a love for dance parties, late night talks, and playing card games.

Many of these girls came in with big competition and even bigger ambitions. With city, county, and state offices up for grabs, many girls were “shooting for the stars” on campaigning like Bella Meyers who ran for Governor. MaKenna Villwok who ran for Attorney General. MaKenna had others’ best interest at heart and told the county of Hayes “Don’t be a Dum-Dum” vote for Villwok. Others were fixing their skills “to be a le-da” like Alica Clark who ran for School Board Member. These girls had full support from floor two when they needed a snack or extra supplies.

The floor has made its mark in Girls’ State History with creative chants like what Allyssa called “the two chant”. The two chant follows the tune of “Rock and Roll: Part two. The City of Hayes was well on its way to becoming the best floor in the state.
