William Henry Harrison, the 9th president of the United States, was known by many for his good-humorness, affable, and hospitable personality. These traits are all exhibited on Floor 6, named after Harrison himself. Upon arrival at the floor’s first town meeting, the girls broke the ice by sharing their favorite songs and artists. By far country was the most popular genre, with dominant country stars such as Zach Lane Bryan and Cody Johnson.

Throughout the week, the thirty-one girls assigned to the floor have shared laughter, cracked jokes, and elaborated on their experience of growing up in different regions of the state.  Due to the floor’s location in Ozenbaugh county, many girls enjoy the luxurious experience of elevator usage after long days of sessions and activities as well as late-night convenience store runs.

Angel Runyan from Blue Hill High School was elected as Mayor, and led the floor through daily town problems. The first town problem the girls discussed on how to deal with the issue of a local lake slowly filling with sediment and the options available. After several debates and discourse, the girls decided on imposing a five dollar pass on all who would like to use the lake for recreational activities and allocate those funds towards methods of sediment-removal.

After the Primary Election results came in, the floor was excited to host the 2023 Federalist Governor candidate and winner, Ellie Broz from Hayes Center High School. By the end of the week the floor had also nicknamed itself the “grooviest” floor of Girls State.
