Theodore Roosevelt was the 26th president of the United States. He was best known for his outgoing and decisive leadership styles. These traits are all exhibited on Floor 6, named after Roosevelt himself. When the girls first arrived they found goodies on their bed provided to them by their awesome floor counselors, Jaci and Tina. They also participated in the first town meeting, and broke the ice by showing each other an item from their bags that they couldn’t live without.

Throughout the week the girls on Floor 6 bonded by singing songs, making chants, and talking about their experiences of growing up in different cultures and communities. Due to the floor’s location in Moore county, many girls enjoy the luxurious experience of elevator usage after long days of sessions and activities as well as late-night convenience store runs.

Maryann Kassner from McCook High School was elected as Mayor, and did a terrific job in leading the City of Roosevelt through their town problems and has helped them create new and improved chants. The first town problem that was discussed on Floor 6 was revamping the town to draw more attraction in while the town is going through construction. After several debates and discussions, the girls decided to create a committee that would fundraise.

The floor has made its mark in Girls’ State History with creative chants like “Floor 6 girls we’re unforgettable.” The chant follows the tune of “California Girls.” The City of Roosevelt is on its way to becoming the best floor in the state.
