Girls State delegates are a diverse group of young women who are brought together by the one common thread they share: a desire to learn. From small towns to urban areas, the delegates’ different backgrounds add spirit to the program.
Delegates to Cornhusker Girls State are selected by American Legion Auxiliary Units across the state of Nebraska. The Auxiliary Units may work with high school teachers and counselors who assist in evaluating potential candidates. Auxiliary Units use a variety of methods from personal interviews to essay contests to select their delegates.
The final selection of a delegate is the sole responsibility of the sponsoring American Legion Auxiliary Unit.
For more information about the Girls State selection process, please contact your high school guidance counselor, government teacher, other school employee, or an American Legion Auxiliary District President.
The dates for the 2024 Session of Cornhusker Girls State will be June 2-8, 2024. The location will be at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Sandoz Residence Hall, 820 North 17th St., Lincoln, Nebraska.
